This award recognises the important role that Learning & Development plays in organisation-wide success and growth.

The winner of the L&D Award will demonstrate how they have been successful in the development of people and their performance in meeting key sales and marketing organisational goals. They create, support and champion learning opportunities.


Format & Guidelines

The entry should be a submission of 1500 to 2200 words and it may include charts and diagrams where appropriate. Supporting documents include training documents, manuals and measuring tools.

Note: Entries and supporting material should be unbound. Please supply 4 copies of all supporting materials

The submission should be set out under the following headings:

L&D Solution/Strategy

Describe one performance improvement solution/initiative that the L&D unit implemented in the past 12 months.

Describe how learning activities were integrated with the solution in your sales and marketing/business development unit to cover: determination of need, selection of approach, design, development and implementation. You need to also describe the link between the L&D initiative to business goals, the audience, design/implementation and scope of impact.

L&D Reporting

Describe the processes, system and/or tools that were used to measure the impact of an L&D initiative across the organisation. These can be 'hard' or 'soft' measures. Please ianclude how these results were connected to the sales/marekting team's overall results in the business.

Judging Criteria

  • Activity or analysis demonstrated to identify required initiative and method of delivery
  • Stakeholder involvement and influence required to gain momentum
  • Clarity of objectives
  • Effective resource allocation
  • The quality of implementation and content
  • Innovation - design and delivery
  • Impact on customer perceptions and behaviour
  • The real and specific behavioural difference(s) achieved with the outcomes - how is it built into/connected to the performance management system and role related goals
  • Evaluation criteria - demonstrated shift from pre-training skill point
  • Transfer of learning - method and responsibility of reinforcement and measurement "on the job"
  • Results
  • Overall effectiveness of the initiative in terms of future benefit to the organisation

Short listed entries will be given the opportunity to submit a "poster" summary of their campaign to be included in the exhibition of winners work at the PRIME Awards ceremony. If your entry is short listed, you will be notified by email in August 2010.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday 23 September 2010.
