This award highlights the importance of delivering credible, valuable and relevant educational programs for healthcare professionals and/or consumers. The main objective of this award is to identify, recognise and reward those making an outstanding commitment to excellence in the design and implementation of healthcare educational programs.

Entry Criteria

For a program to qualify for this award it needs to meet the following criteria:

  • Focuses on education of healthcare professionals on the Quality Use of Medicines (QUM).
  • Uses clinical evidence to support the information provided.
  • Does not focus on one specific brand (ie provides balanced, evidence-based information to support best clinical practice and optimum care for patients).
  • Has involved key advisors in the development of the educational program (eg specialists, GPs, pharmacists, consumers, nurses and other healthcare practitioners that represent the needs of the target audience).
  • Has a clear statement of needs of the target audience and measurable learning objectives.
  • Provides a summary of how the success of the activity was measured

Format & Guidelines
Your entry should be a submission of 1500 to 3000 words and may include charts and diagrams as appropriate. A selection of supporting materials, eg program materials, advertising materials, brochures etc should be included with your written entry.

Note: Entries and supporting material should be unbound. Please supply 4 copies of all supporting materials

Your entry should be set out under the following headings:

Executive summary
Please provide a synopsis of no more than 500 words. Should your entry be nominated for an award, extracts from this synopsis may be published so please ensure that it contains no confidential or sensitive information. PRIME undertakes that no part of your entry will be reproduced in any form whatsoever and will remain strictly confidential at all times.

Program overview
Please provide an overview of the program including information on the following:

Objectives
Examples include;

  • Learning objectives (if appropriate)
  • Communication objectives
  • Outcome objectives

Judging Criteria

The judges will be allocating marks with special reference to:

  • Clearly identified educational need
  • Clear and educationally relevant objectives
  • Involvement of relevant advisors in the development and implementation of the program
  • Evaluation criteria (i.e. were the objectives met?)
  • Results
  • Overall impression

Short listed entries will be given the opportunity to submit a "poster" summary of their campaign to be included in the exhibition of winners work at the PRIME Awards ceremony. If your entry is short listed, you will be notified by email in August 2010.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday 23 September 2010.
